(10-13-18) Week 8 provided some big changes in this week’s Joe Eitel HS Football Computer Points Rankings.

Looking back on week 8, two missed extra points changed the outcome of two key games in helping one team continue their long consecutive game winning streak, while a #1 state ranked team dropped a heart-breaker. Mother Nature played a big part in both of those games.

Marion Local (8-0) with their nail biting win over Minster 7-6, takes over the #1 spot in the D VI Region 24 rankings and according to Eitel they clinch a playoff spot with two games remaining in the regular season.

#1 Coldwater (7-1) drops to #3 in Region 24, after their shocking loss 21-20 at the end of the game when they fumbled on their 1 yard line with 21 seconds remaining. It was the Cavaliers first loss of the season.

St. Henry (6-2) with their win over Ft. Recovery (3-5) moves up to #5

Despite their one point loss to the Flyers, Minster (5-3), according to Eitel, are in control of their own destiny of qualifying for the playoffs and are ranked #4 this week. Next door neighbor New Bremen (5-3) is in the 7 spot.

In D III Region 12, Celina is ranked #14 after their loss to St. Marys on Friday night 42-0.

Region 14 Week 8

In D IV Region 14, St. Marys clinched a playoff spot after taking care of cross lake rival Celina. Van Wert (6-2) continues to impress after shutting out Bath last night 33-0 and remains at #4 this week. Despite a 4-4 record, WBL member Kenton remains in the top 8 at #7.
