(11-9-19) Interesting results in Week 1 of the high school football playoffs in the Stateline. The first week included two #8 seeds knocking of a #1.

Div III Region 12

In D III Region 12 three of the lower seeds, who were playing on the road pick up first round wins.  St. the #6 seed held on to beat #3 seed Franklin 14-10, while the other Auglaize team and WBL member lost to #7 seed Trotwood-Madison 31-21.

Two private schools battled it out with #8 seed Alter upending #1 seed Chaminade-Julienne 10-7. Alter sneaked into the playoffs on the final weekend, while C-J was in the top spot for most of the season.

  • #3 Archbold 27 #6 Coldwater 21 – Archbold wins with no time on the clock with a 28 yard pass from Newman to Zimmerman
  • #5 Anna 47  #4 Minster 21 – Anna will face the Fairview Apaches next Friday night in the Regional Semifinals

In the Stateline in D VI Region 23, an exciting ending when on the last play of the game #3 Archbold knocked off #6 Coldwater 27-21.

What made news in this game? Since 1998, Coldwater had been 21-0 in the first-round of the playoffs (22-2 all-time in the first round).The last time Coldwater lost its opening playoff game was in 1997 to Versailles 12-7and the first time it has happened since the playoffs expanded to eight teams per region.

In a MAC re-match, with two teams that changed divisions this year, Minster moved up to D VI, while Anna moved down from D V. For the Rockets it was a good move as the #5 Rockets knocked off the #4 Wildcats 47-21.

The big upset in the region was when #8 seed Fairview surprised #1 seed LCC. With that win Anna and Fairview will match up in the next round.

Week 3 Playoffs (11-8-19)

Indiana played week 3 of their playoffs, two Stateline area teams South Adams and Adams Central  won Sectional Championships. The result of those two wins, they will now play next week for a chance to move on. South Adams broke a losing streak to Adams Central during the regular season on September 27th 42-14. This should be a classic match-up of these two rivals.

The Flying Jets will have to stop Starfires QB James Arnold who 7 TDs passes in the game, Aidan Wanner tied the record with 3 TDs receiving in a game, Trey Schoch 3 TDs receiving in a game. (These three records all happened in the first half) Aidan Wanner now has most points scored in a season with 150.
