Sexton was named Sycamore’s Homecoming King this past fall, here he is with his mother

(12-23-19) According to the DeKalb County (Illinois) Sheriff’s Office Kal-el Sexton (17) and his mother, Dalahn Colley (52) , both of Cortland  were killed after their car crashed Saturday morning on Plank Rd., just east of Lukens Rd.

The accident report states that their vehicle rolled over and Colley was ejected from the vehicle in the crash, she passed away after being taken to the hospital.  Sexton, who was driving the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.

Sexton was a senior offensive and defensive lineman on the Sycamore’s football team.

Dear Sycamore Community School District 427 Community, 

It is with deep sorrow that I write to inform you of the sudden passing of Kal-el Sexton, a senior at Sycamore High School. Kal-el and his mother passed away Saturday morning as a result of a car accident. We are deeply saddened by their death and express our sincere condolences to their family.

Our student support services team will be available tomorrow, Monday, December 23, 2019, from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM in the library at Sycamore High School to assist our students and staff in processing through this tragedy.
