(2-23-20) The Coldwater Cavs boys bowling team came back from a slow start to edge out Ft. Recovery for the final spot at the D II Bowling Districts at Westgate Entertainment Center in Lima to finish 3rd and advance to next week’s State Championships.
Ft. Recovery was 2nd in the regulation games with a 2,910 total, including a 1,092 first game, while Coldwater was 5th with a 914 round. The Cavs finished the round off strong with the high schore of the round with a 1,046 and ended up in 4th place.
In the Baker games,Coldwater would finish with a 1,160 round, thanks to a 4th game of 244, and 108 more pins then Ft. Recovery, that was enough for the Cavs to slip by the Indians 3,998-3,962 to finish 3rd by just 36 pins and advance to the D II State Bowling Championships.
The Cavs boys will now join the girls team at State in Columbus.
Michael Schoenherr led Coldwater with a 13th place finish and a 603 series.
Ft. Recovery’s Jared Timmerman finished tied for 4th place with a 653 and just missed qualifying for State as an individual by just 8 pins.
New Bremen’s Spencer Alig advanced to state as he finished as the runner-up with a 664 series.
