(2-29-20) The Coldwater Cavaliers celebrated ‘leap day’ with a State Runner-Up Finish in Columbus at the D II Girls State Bowling Championships. Coldwater brings home two BIG trophies from the weekend, as the boys team won the D II title

Coldwater reached the Final 8 by placing 2nd in the opening round by just 28 pins to 1st  seed Greenon 2,612-2,584.

In the Baker Games,  Greenon would finish 1st and add 57 pins to its lead 540-483. Coldwater’s round was 10th best out of the 16 teams.

Heading into the Final 8 Tournament Greenon led by 85 pins  over Coldwater 3,152-3067.

Coldwater would knock off #7 seed Girard 3-1 in the 1st tournament match-up and would handle #6 Triway 3-0 in the semifinal match.

In the championship game #4 seed Bryan would pick up the state title beating Coldwater 3-1.

For Bryan it was a good day, they knocked off last season’s D II Champions St. Marys in the Final 8 opening game to revenge their lost last year in the title game to the Roughriders.

Coldwater’s Ryleigh Brown was named 1st team All State with a 5th place individual finish thanks to a 586 series (184, 180, 222).

St. Marys had two bowlers make the 2nd team, Alayna Thornsberry (582 series) who finished 6th and Samantha Ackroyd (569 series) who was 7th. The Roughriders Jaden Gibson was named Honorable Mention with a 543 series.
