(8-8-20) Thursday Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf recommended that the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) cancel all school sports until January 1st. That brought an uproar around the state.
The Governor is seeing some political pushback from state officials opposing the Governor’s request –
Yesterday the PIAA Board of Directors issued a statement that they are not yet ready to take the Governornor’s recommendation yet.
The PIAA board will meet again on August 21st to decide what they will do next. For the next two weeks voluntary workouts will continue…but mandatory workouts have been placed on hold.
Fall sports are hanging on…survival will depend on the stance the PIAA takes against the political pressue.
