(3-14-21) This year the pandemic sent wrestlers to different locations around Ohio.

Coldwater’s Caleb Stammen (Jr) finished 3rd at the districts at 195lbs in Troy and that allowed him to advance on to the D III OHSAA State Tournament at Marion Harding.

Stammen entered the State tournament with a record of 42-4.

On Saturday…Stammen lost his 1st match to Max Hoffman (#7 in state) of Delta 10-0.

Stammen would win his next two matches by pin. First was a fall against Anthony Gencarelli (#12 in state) of Kirtland in 1:33 and the next was against Chandler Keener (#8 in state) of Smithville in 3:00.

Stammen advanced to the second day by going 2-1 on day 1.

In the consolation1st match on Sunday Stammen dropped his match to Tyler Knight (Mogadore), Knight finished 4th in the tournament. Stammen wrestled in the 7th/8th match and lost to Nathaniel DiRe (Liberty-Benton) in an 8-2 decision to finish 8th.

Starr Kelly of Williamsport Westfall and Wyatt Miller of Oak Harbor will wrestle for the 195lb State title later today.

3rd Place Match

  • Cameron Blair (Sandy Valley) 26-5, Sr. over Tyler Knight (Mogadore) 33-4, Jr. (TB-1 3-2)

5th Place Match

  • Jaidyn Sapp (Southeast) 35-6, Jr. over Ezra Jones (Columbus Grove) 42-6, Sr. (Dec 9-6)

7th Place Match

  • Nathaniel DiRe (Liberty-Benton) 47-7, Sr. over Caleb Stammen (Coldwater) 44-7, Jr. (Dec 8-2)
