(3-13-21) The disappointment of last season is over as Napoleon beats Vinton County 76-44 to win the OHSAA D II Girls Basketball State Championship this afternoon at the UD Arena.

Last season the Final Four games were cancelled due to COVID 19 and it put a damper on what had been a great season by the Wildcats. This afternoon it turned out to be the day they had hoped it would be…it was.

Tay Strock led Napoleon with 23 points and 7 rebounds, Caely Ressler had 18, 8 rebounds and 7 assists and Kalli Helberg added 16 points, The Wildcats shot 59.5% from the field.

Morgan Bentley led the Vikings with 21 points and 7 rebounds, Cameron Zinn had a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds.

Both schools were playing in their first ever state tournament.
