Napoleon’s Taylor Strock, 2021 D II Player of the Year

(4-8-21) Several weeks ago the Napoleon Wildcats won the 2021 OHSAA D II State Championship, had it not been for the pandemic they might have won back-to-back titles. Over the last two seasons they went 53-1, an impressive team effort.

Caely Ressler (6’0 Sr) was a member of that team, an All-Ohio D II Special Mention selection, OHSBCA D II All-Academic, a 1st team All-Northwest District selection and a 1st team All-Northern Lakes League member.

Yesterday Ressler on Twitter announced that she would continue her athletic and academic career at NCAA D III Baldwin-Wallace. A happy day for her, her teammates and hercoach.

But Napoleon Coach Corey Kreinbrink would go on what he called a ‘HS Coach Rant‘ on the recruitment or lack of interest in Ressler.

Good advice from a caring coach about one of his players that he knew was capable of playing at the next level. Many coaches have felt the same way about the college recruiting process as Coach Kreinbrink does.

Ressler is not the first or will she be the last to have recruiting issues, there are many stories that can be told by athletes…including those who walk-on.

For a deserving young lady, Caely Ressler, and a Hall of Fame College coach, Cheri Harrer, the future looks great. A winning player and a winning program is a great recipe.

Admire by many….
