(6-14-21) The Eastside Blazers claimed their first IHSAA semi-state championship in program history Saturday beating Delphi 9-1 at Kokokmo Municipal Stadium.
Eastside (26-6) will play No. 2 Providence (21-6) for the Class 2A State title at Victory Field in Indianapolis, Monday June 21st at 8pm.
Providence defeated #8 ranked University 14-1 in five innings in the 2A South Semi-State at Mooresville. The last time the Pioneers advanced to the state finals, they won the title, beating Lafayette Central Catholic in 2016.
Players to watch….
In the win over University the Pioneers were led by Senior Eli Watson who went 3-for-3 with a single, double, home run and four RBIs.
In the Blazers win over Delphi they were led by Owen Willard who threw a two-hit complete game striking out nine and walking five, at the plate he went 4 for 5 with a triple, two doubles and two RBIs. (Note: no indication that he drove the teams bus to the game).
