(7-10-21) In 2019 the OHSAA made some noticeable D VI Region changes in football reshuffling schools, most noticeable was a group of Region 24 schools moving north to Region 23. The result was a 10-0 Gibsonburg team missing the playoffs. In 2021 five Midwest Athletic Schools return south in Region 24, Anna, Coldwater, Ft. Recovery, Minster and Parkway. One MAC member St. Henry, Spencerville and Lima Central Catholic (who was #1 ranked in Region 23) both move back to D VII, Gibsonburg moves back to D VI Region 22.
In 2021 nine schools in the Region will not make the playoffs.
In 2019 Region 23 was loaded. 7 of the 8 schools who qualified for the playoffs had 9-1 records, while the 8th Coldwater was 8-2. As mentioned earlier Gibsonburg at 10-0 missed moving on…in 2021 they would have qualified in the 9th spot.
Lima Central Catholic, an independent, who was ranked #1 in the Region and St. Henry and Spencerville both move down to D VII in 2021.

With the expansion to 16 teams this season…two additional MAC schools would have qualified, both 4-6 records. The remaining schools had 7-3 and 6-4 records.
Ottawa Hils with a 6-4 record was ranked #17 and would have missed the playoffs.

The OHSAA list above contains schools that have indicated participation in the 2021 tournament. This is NOT the final list of schools that will be eligible to participate in the 2021 tournament as schools have until October 1 to make changes to their tournament participation. In addition, multi-high school districts that restructure their high schools are required to have their enrollment reclassified as of September 10 which may change their assigned tournament division.
