(8-4-21) What is a key to a school system building new ‘state of the art’ athletic facilities? Besides having all of the money already in place…how about a sports-minded Superintendent of Schools. That is one thing the Bethel Local Schools already have in place…Justin Firks.
1997 Coldwater Basketball Team
Firks, the former Superintendent of Ft. Recovery Schools, was a star athlete at Coldwater…including baseball and basketball. His love of sports over the years, which included coaching baseball adds up to some good credentials.
His enthusiasm for this plan and his school district’s future makes it a winner.

In the Fall of 2020, the Bethel Local Schools Board of Education announced plans to build a brand new K-5 building and Athletic Stadium for the district. These structures are just the beginning of an overall plan to improve the facilities and offerings to the Bethel community as we continue to expand as the 4th fastest growing district in Ohio.
The total project cost of $28.5M will come at NO ADDITIONAL COST to the Bethel Community.
Garmann Miller has developed the building project for Bethel Local Schools.
New Athletic Stadium
$3.5M of the project is earmarked for the Athletic Stadium and will provide the community with safe, accessible and modern facilities that will accommodate more students and community members than ever before.
In coordination with the Bethel Athletic Boosters and in conjunction with the Board of Education they are pursuing funding to assist with the overall cost of the project and raise an additional $1M…which will include field turf.
Naming rights already committed…
A full-course of opportunities are still available for those who want to help raise that extra money to complete the goal. It is well put together and will add to the Bees athletic program over the years to come.
The future looks bright as the Bees start the 2021-22 School as charter members of the Three Rivers Conference.
