(10-16-21) The Western Buckeye League held its 2021 Cross Country Championships at Kenton.

The Defiance boys picked up their 27th WBL title ((27): 21, 19, 18, 17, 16, 15, 13, 12, 09, 08, 04, 02, 01, 00, 99, 92, 91, 90, 89, 87, 86, 80, 79, 78, 77, 76, 73), while the Shawnee girls picked up their 6th title (6): 21, 19, 11, 10, 86, 85.

BOYS

Defiance picked up the Western Buckeye League championship outdistancing Van Wert 44-56….Shawnee was right behind the top two in 3rd with 62 points.

Defiance was led by a balanced effort with 4th, 6th and 7th places finished by Josh Horvath, Eli Fortman and Caleb Brasher.

Van Wert’s Hunter Sherer with a time of16:48.13 was the WBL Individual champion.

GIRLS

The Shawnee girls outdistanced 2nd place Ottaw-Glandorf 46-85 to pick up the title.

Shawnee’s top 3 runners,Alaina Williams, Molly Stump and Lily Cleaves, finished 5th, 6th and 7th.

Celina’s Kylie Dameron repeated her individual title from last year winning in a time of 19:18.55, her sister Joscelyn finished 4th.
