UNION CITY, Ind. (11-4-21) – The Union City Lady Indians basketball team opened their season Wednesday night with a 61-45 victory over visiting Richmond Lady Red Devils. UC took a commanding 30-14 lead at the half and were able to hold off Richmond to start the season 1-0.

Leading the way for the Lady Indians was senior Emily Livingston, who recorded a double-double, with 26 points and 20 boards in the win. Senior Mariah Claywell added 10 points and 5 assists, and junior Emily Evans got 10 rebounds and added 9 points. The freshman duo of Reichard and Ordonez combined for 14 points to help seal the win for Union City.

“I thought we had a nice team win tonight. Still a lot of room for growth, but there were some nice things we saw from the team. Looking forward to seeing what this team will develop into.”

UC will travel to Southern Wells Saturday as they look to stay on the winning track.
