(11-27-21) A snowy night in Clyde, Ohio couldn’t slow down Kirtland as they knocked off Ottawa-Glandorf 28-6 in a state state semifinal game for their 55th consecutive win.

The current streak remains the #1 streak in the country, the Hornets are just two wins away from tying the Ohio HS all-time consecutive wins record (57) currently held by Delphos St. John’s.

Ohio Consecutive Win Streaks

57 – Delphos St. John’s (1996-2001)
55 – Kirtland (current)
54 – Versailles (1993-1997)
49 – Dayton Jefferson Twp. (1970-1975)
48 – Niles McKinley (1959-1964)

With the win the Hornets advance to Canton to play Versailles (who beat Harvest Prep 28-22) and try to win their 4th consecutive State Championship.

Interesting Points

With the Hornets win, they now take over the 2nd position in the Ohio all-time consecutive wins list…passing Versailles…who they will play for a state title next week.

Versailles is a member of the Midwest Athletic Conference, the last Hornets loss was to Marion Local in the 2017 OHSAA D VI state title game…the Flyers are also in the Midwest Athletic Conference.

NOTE: The MAC will have three teams in Canton playing for a state title…Coldwater, Marion Local and Versailles.
