(4-5-22) According to a Columbus Dispatch story Hartley’s veteran boys basketball coach Randy Kortokrax will not coach the team next season with school officials saying ‘they’re going in a different direction’.

During his 23 years of coaching Kortokrax was Hartley’s dean of students and the boys basketball coach.

Kortokrak played for Kalida under his father, Hall of Famer Dick Kortokrax, who retired in 2016 after coaching for 56 seasons. 

During his 23 years Kortokrax led the Hawks to 10 district championship games, winning five, and went 326-201 overall. 

In 2011, Hartley reached a Division II state semifinal and finished 22-2. 

The Hawks won their last district title in the 2018-19 season. They followed an 8-14 finish in 2019-20 by going 13-7 in 2020-21 and 9-15 this season.
