(6-4-22) Lincolnview beat Antwerp 6-3, despite a 3-run Archers 7th inning, to win the OHSAA D IV regional baseball championship Friday at Patrick Henry’s Garrold Parrott Field.

Ohio State commit Landon Price led the Lancers on the mound with a seven inning complete game, allowing three earned runs, on three hits, striking out 15 and walking three. Price went 2-4 at the plate.

The Lancers make their second consecutive trip to Akron and the final four. It is the fourth time in school history…winning the title in 1962, a semi-finalist in 1974 and last year’s state runner-up finish.

Price shared his thoughts with the Lima News after the win about returning to Akron for the Final Four –

“All of us who knew we were going to come back had that in our minds after that loss. We were so heartbroken. That’s what we worked toward for 365 days. We worked toward the goal of winning a state championship.’’

Tiffin Calvert overcame a five-run first inning by Hillsdale to pick-up a Regional title and a trip to the state semifinals by scoring a run in the bottom of the seventh inning for a walk-off 9-8 victory Friday at Gilmour Academy.

Calvert’s Caden Otterbacher had the game-winning single in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Lincolnview (23-6) vs. Tiffin Calvert at 1 p.m. Thursday at Akron’s Canal Park in the D IV State semifinal game.
