(6-9-22) Two western Ohio schools, Lincolnview and Russia, will battle at 10:00 am on Saturday for an Ohio High School D IV State Baseball Championship in Canton.

Lincolnview’s Dane Ebel threw a one hitter in the state semifinal game to lead the Lancers to an 8-1 win over Tiffin Calvert.

Ebel had a complete game win striking out 11, walking just 2 and the 1 earned run. Offensively the Lancers had 9 hits and were led by Landon Price who went 3 for 4, scored 2 runs and had an RBI. Caden Hanf was 2 for 4, scored 2 runs and had 2 RBIs and Austin Bockrath was 1-3 with 2 RBIs.

Ebel’s outstanding pitching performance allows the Lancers to throw their ace, Landon Price, on Saturday. Price is an Ohio State commit and was just named the OHSBCA D IV Player of the Year.

Russia (24-6) advanced to the D IV title game with a 4-3 win over Newark Catholic (25-7).

The Raiders, trailing the Senecas 3-0, would score all of their 4 runs in the bottom of the 4th and hang on to pick-up the win. Russia on offense was led by Zane Shappie who went 1 for 2, a double, and had 2 RBIs.

Grant Saunders picked up the complete game win for Russia, giving up just 2 hits, he struck out 4 and walked just 1 and gave up 3 earned runs.
