Beasts of the east: Chardon pounds out 14-7 win vs. Olmsted Falls

Junior Andrew Bruce scored both of Chardon’s touchdowns and rushed for 158 yards on just six carries to extend the defending OHSAA Division III state champions’ win streak to 29 games, currently the longest streak in Ohio.

After having its nation leading consecutive game winning streak snapped by Versailles last season in the OHSAA D V championship game…Kirtland started a new streak. Kirtland picked up a week one win over Harvey 34-8.

While the state is seeing schools drop their programs due to low numbers or going to the 8-man game one school kicked off its first ever football season last night.

North Central’s football team made history playkng in its first varsity football game in program history with a 24-0 victory over Woodmore on Friday at North Central High School.

Joey Burt had 10 rushes for 104 rushing yards, while Cameron Laney ran seven times for 55 yards with a score for the Eagles (1-0).

Cameron Lane returned a punt 62 yards for a touchdown and rushed in from 35 yards out to lead North Central.

Connor Gendron added an 8-yard TD run as North Central outgained Woodmore 174 to -3 on the ground.
