(9-21-22) Last night the St. Henry Volleyball team celebrated the programs 1,000th program win since Title IX was enacted 50 years ago. The amazing part of the story is that they have only lost 201 times during that stretch.

1974 St. Henry Volleyball

The first Redskins’ Coach of the program was Barb Desch. Desch was a Physical Education teacher. The St. Henry yearbook included just one page about the 1974 team, no details or scores were mentioned. –

The first year the OHSAA held a girls volleyball state championship was in 1975. Those were the days before rally scoring was in place. Scoring was much different…you had to get 15 points, points were only given when you were the serving team. A lot has changed since that time.

The Redskins lost in Districts to Minster 15-12, 15-9.

Over the years St. Henry has been a dominant program in the Midwest Athletic Conference (MAC) and the OHSAA.

The have won 29 MAC titles –

1985 St. Henry won its 1st OHSAA State Volleyball Title under Hall of Fame Coach DeDe Stoner.

St. Henry has won 7 OHSAA State Titles 5 Runner-ups and made 15 total trips to the Final Four.
