(12-11-22) In today’s world you blow a call as a sports referee and social media puts the call in the spotlight. Yesterday Sandy Creek won the Georgia State Class 3A high school football championship over Cedar Grove 21-17 after the referees made what appeared to be a poor ruling on a 1-yard touchdown run from Sandy Creek’s Travis Franklin with 50 seconds left in the game.
Watching the Twitter and You Tube video replays on our site it shows the play and why it became viral. Watching you will see Franklin was stopped well short of the goal line.

After watching the replay of the game after the TD call was made the officials did not meet or discuss the call.
Since the Georgia High School Association (GHSA) does not have instant replay system in Georgia high school football no review was possible.
SSN has sent an email to both the Georgia referee association and GHSA officials for a clarification, ruling and comment on the call. No statement has appeared on the GHSA web site or social media accounts. Both schools after researching their social media sites have not mentioned the situation.
