(12-21-22) Last night veteran Homestead Head Boys Basketball Coach Chris Johnson picked up his 400th win, since his first season in 1999-2000 at the school, with a 49-46 win over Leo. The Spartans are now 6-0 this season heading into the final weeks in 2022.
With last night’s win Johnson has a career 400-158 record with the Spartans, including eight sectionals, two regionals, one semi-state and a Class 4A state title in 2015. His next milestone will give him 500 wins as a head coach…his present overall record as a head coach is 479-193 in 29 seasons, including an 80-35 record in five seasons at Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger.

Johnson started his coaching career as an assistant at Cincinnati Elder, then was an assistant at Merrillville before becoming the head coach at Bishop Dwenger. A 1983 graduate of Brookville (Ohio) High School, Johnson earned his bachelor’s degree from Ball State in 1988. He previously was an IBCA District 1 Coach of the Year in 2010 and 2012. He also was an assistant coach for the 2012 Indiana All-Stars.
