Jerry Cooper Named Hardin Northern Football Coach

(4-21-23) Veteran Head Football Coach Jerry Cooper has been named the new head football coach at Hardin Northern.

Cooper has been Shawnee’s Head coach for the past five seasons. His best season was in 2021 when the Indiana made the playoffs and went 7-5 on the season.

Cooper is nearing the 300 career win mark, he presently has 273.

Cooper has been the head coach at Lucas, Waynesfield-Goshen, Hicksville, Bath, Columbus Grove, Lima Central Catholic, Seymour (Tennessee) and Shawnee. Cooper has won a D VI OHSAA state title in 2003 at Columbus Grove

In 2022 Hardin Northern was was 5-2 in the Northest Central Conference (NWCC) and 6-5 overall. He replaces Travis Rettig who has been the Polar Bears head coach for the past four seasons.
