(6-26-25) With the recent OHSAA football playoff format being changed it makes every win, every computer point mean a lot more in the qualifying process.

Teams will now have two goals to reach…first of all…be one of the 12 qualifying teams…the second is to be one of the top 4 qualifiers and get a bye week.

Veteran Coldwater football coach Chip Otten told SSN his thoughts on the new format…

I really don’t have strong feelings one way or another on the 16 to 12 playoff issue. I think the bye week for 4 teams is a big advantage to get healthy and to go watch opponents live the 1st week. I guess if in the top 4 I like it. (HAHA)

Play well and  win 5 or 6 games and you get in.

This year’s non-conference games were all scheduled before the new format was announced…which could make for some down to the wire situations in making the top 12.

The MAC continues to play 2-non conference games, while the WBL once again plays non-conference games in just week one.

Last season the MAC went 16-4 during the two weeks and the WBL went 6-4.
