(5-11-26) Tinora’ (OH)’s Paige Gamby (Sr) who is a three-sport athlete, suffered a knee (meniscus) injury during her final wrestling match, forcing her to miss her entire senior softball season.
Gamby would get a symbolic at-bat opportunity to end her career.
She did not disappoint…hitting a home run in her only at bat. Proving that Great players do great things.
It was a memory that she and her teammates will always remember…including the exciting call by P-B-P Keith Brown during the broadcast.
Gamby is a catcher and after graduation she will be attending Malone University to play softball.

Senior Night at Tinora Softball brought a moment no one in attendance will soon forget.
After missing the 2026 season with a torn meniscus injury, senior Paige Gamby stepped to the plate for what would become her only at-bat of the season. What followed has since been shared across local news stations and national sports outlets.
Tinora Rams Live announcer Keith Brown, who has called Tinora sporting events for more than a decade, said the emotions surrounding the moment started long before Paige entered the batter’s box.
Brown shared –
“When I arrived at the field that Thursday, Coach Fairchild mentioned Paige was going to start on Senior Night. My initial thoughts were, ‘Great, at least she can put on the uniform one last time, and no matter what the outcome, she will have a bit of closure to her decorated academic and athletic career at Tinora High School.’”
As Paige walked from the dugout to the on-deck circle, anticipation filled the field.
Brown said –
“I think everyone, including myself, was excited and nervous, with almost goosebumps just seeing her on the field one last time as a Lady Ram softball player.”
After taking the first pitch for a strike, Paige settled in. Then came the swing that no one at the field will ever forget.
“As Paige swung the bat, with one leg basically, I think everyone at the field knew it had a chance to go over the right field fence,” Brown said. “What happened afterward was just unimaginable.”
The ball cleared the fence for a home run, and emotions immediately poured out from the crowd, teammates, and announcer alike.
Brown continued-
“As Paige walked around the bases, I think everyone just lost composure for a few moments. There was happiness in the air everywhere for Paige and the Lady Rams teammates.”
Brown says the moment now ranks among the most memorable in his career behind the microphone.
“I’ve called over 800 games of Tinora sports over the decade, and it’s definitely at the top of my all-time moments for both an individual and any team accomplishment.”
What made the moment even more special was how quickly it resonated beyond Tinora. The video, captured and produced by Logan Bailey, spread rapidly online and was featured by several local television stations and national sports outlets.
For one swing, one night, and one unforgettable trip around the bases, the entire Tinora community shared in something bigger than softball.

Gibson’s Injury
Kirk Gibson, the Dodgers’ National League MVP, was not expected to play. He had:
- A strained left hamstring
- A swollen right knee
He could barely walk and had not appeared earlier in the game.
The At-Bat
With two outs and a runner on first, Gibson shockingly pinch-hit.
