#1 Mater Dei ties it up in the 7th inning to force extra innings…then the Wildcats scored 3-runs with 2-outs in the top of the 8th inning to 6-3 and their first state championship since 1999.

Mater Dei was down to their final out in the top of the seventh inning when Jackson Schaefer’s swinging bunt infield single scored Spencer Schiff, tying the game at three.

In the 8th inning, the Wildcats scored three runs with two outs. Max Miller delivered the game-winning single, with Dylan Murphy adding a 2-RBI single for insurance runs.

Darret Branson shut out Bluffton in the final 2-innings to pick up the win.

  • Mental Attitude Award goes to Mater Dei’s Jackson Schaefer.
