(7-27-26) Akron Hoban is adding a Texas transfer running back and linebacker Keonte “Ke” Hollis Jr. (5-foot-9, 168-pound sophomore and runs a 4.5-second 40-yard ) from L.V. Berkner High School in Richardson, Texas, per a X social media post, the Akron Beacon Journal and @OHSFBMedia. (see story above)

Hollis Jr., who will be a sophomore, is a running back and a linebacker from the class of 2029.

Last season as a Freshman, Hollis rushed the ball 64 times, gaining 728 yards and scoring 10 touchdowns; he also caught passes for 87 yards and two TDs..

Hoban this year lost three quality players … including brothers Brydon and Brayton Feister who both transferred to Massillon and Jance Henry move to Moon Area High School in Pennsylvania.

Bad news for Jance Henry last week saw the WPIAL that ruled him ineligible to play football for the upcoming season.

Transfer Background

  • Played freshman and sophomore years at Central Valley High School.
  • Played his junior year at Archbishop Hoban High School in Akron, Ohio.
  • Announced his return to Pennsylvania to attend Moon Area High School.

Ruling and Recruitment Status

  • Ruled ineligible by the WPIAL board of directors, who determined the transfer involved athletic intent.
  • He holds a three-star rating with numerous Division I offers and a commitment to Bowling Green.
  • The ruling remains subject to further appeal processes with the PIAA.

He is the son of former Akron Zips defensive tackle Keontae Hollis Sr.

Times have changed in high school football…with the advent of social media it is not unusual to see a transfer celebrate the move. Transfers are now a BIG part of high school sports, even expected…this includes private and public schools.

So we better all get use to it.
