(11-7-26) Ten losing-record teams reached the IHSA second round on Saturday, and two of them are still standing.
Wheaton St. Francis (6-5) beat Woodstock (8-2) 42-14, and LaGrange Park Nazareth (6-5) beat Chicago Simeon (6-5) 49-6 in the survivor-vs.-survivor game — so one of the two winners was guaranteed. St. Francis is now 7-5, Nazareth is now 7-5, and both move on to the quarterfinals Nov. 13-14.
The closest calls were Glenbard North’s 21-18 loss, Eastland-Pearl City’s 21-16 loss, and St. Laurence’s 21-14 overtime loss.
