(11-8-26) Three Midwest Athletic Conference schools won regional volleyball championships on Saturday — and two of them now have to play each other.

Parkway and St. Henry both won Division VI regional titles and meet in the Division VI state semifinal on Thursday, Nov. 12, at 8 p.m. at Wittenberg University in Springfield. Parkway is the No. 1 seed in the state semifinals; St. Henry is the No. 2 seed. Only one of them can play for the state championship on Friday night at Wright State University.

Coldwater, meanwhile, won the Division V regional title, ending Marion Pleasant’s undefeated season, and plays No. 2-ranked Meadowbrook in a state semifinal on Friday, Nov. 13, at 11:30 a.m. at Wittenberg.

Parkway 3, Fort Recovery 1

Parkway dropped the first set and then took control, beating MAC rival Fort Recovery 3-1 (16-25, 25-22, 25-12, 25-18) in the regional final Saturday at Northmont High School.

Fort Recovery took the opener 25-16 and the Panthers answered with a 25-22 second set to level the match. Parkway then rolled through the third set 25-12 and closed it out 25-18 in the fourth.

It was Parkway’s second win over Fort Recovery this season — the Panthers also beat the Indians 3-1 at home on Oct. 1. Parkway is now 23-3. Fort Recovery’s season ends at 17-10.

St. Henry 3, Patrick Henry 2

St. Henry’s road was harder. The Redskins ended the perfect season of previously unbeaten Patrick Henry, winning in five sets in the regional final Saturday at Fostoria High School.

Patrick Henry, playing in the first regional final in school history, came in 26-0. The loss ends the Patriots’ season at 26-1.

St. Henry is now 23-4. It is the program’s 18th trip to the state tournament in school history and its second in a row — the Redskins finished as the Division VI state runner-up in 2025. They reached the final by sweeping Tinora 3-0 (25-15, 25-12, 25-21) in Thursday’s regional semifinal, while Patrick Henry beat Mohawk 3-1 to reach Saturday.

Coldwater, the top-ranked team in Division V, ended Marion Pleasant’s perfect season, beating the Spartans 3-1 (25-20, 13-25, 25-21, 29-27) in the regional final Saturday at Ontario High School.

Pleasant came in 26-0, having won two straight regional championships — and having not dropped a set in a match all season. Coldwater changed that in the first set, Pleasant answered with a dominant 25-13 second set, and then the Cavaliers took the third 25-21 and survived a 29-27 fourth set to close it out.

Campbell Etzler drew praise from Pleasant coach Kory Ute for her play at the net for Coldwater. The Cavaliers, now 23-4, reached the final by beating Huron in Thursday’s regional semifinal.

It is the second time in three years Coldwater has ended Pleasant’s season — the Cavaliers also beat the Spartans 3-0 in the 2024 state finals, when Pleasant finished as the state runner-up. Pleasant’s season ends at 26-1, closing a four-year run that included four straight district championships, three regional finals and two regional crowns.
