(4-2-17) Ansonia (Ohio) Freshman Pole Vaulter Brock Shellhaas on ‘April Fools Day‘ set a new school record with a vault of 15’0 at the Franklin Monroe Invitational, to add to that he broke his dad’s school record at Ansonia.
Shellhaas, in early March, competed at the New Balance National Indoor Track and Field Championships in New York. Competing in the “Emerging Elite” Flight in the pole vault he qualified for the meet with a jump of 15’0 which makes him one of the top freshman jumpers in the country and he was the only Freshman to qualify for the event.

Shellhaas, remembers he is just a Freshman, will have the rest of his career to take a shot at the OHSAA State records. The D I record from 2012, is the top jump on record at 17’2″ held by Jacob Blankenship from Gahanna Lincoln.
