(5-31-17) The last two years have been very good to the South Adams Starfires, that includes winning multiple team and individual champions. It has been a school-wide effort to improve the entire athletic program, from student-athletes, coaches and school administration.

The hard work has paid off in all of those areas, South Adams, a member of the Allen County Athletic Conference, has had a very busy post-season run over the last two seasons.  This included a majority of all of the athletic teams competing in the ACAC and IHSAA events at a very high level.

Jason Arnold, South Adams Athletic Director

There are a few things I believe have sparked the last two years. First, we have a great group of athletes right now in the high school. Not only are they talented, but they are willing to put in the work that is needed to be successful. Second, our athletes have bought into the weight room. We were fortunate to add weight training as a class in 2010. I think we are finally seeing the benefits of our athletes work in there under our strength coach, Jeff Lehman.  They see they are getting bigger, faster, stronger and they are gaining confidence in themselves and getting the most out of their bodies. Finally, we have a great group of coaches who not only are knowledgeable about their sport, but they also take the time to invest in our players on and off their respective field. Our coaches are doing a great job of pushing our players to have success now but haven’t lost sight of the big picture of what high school sports are all about.
