(9-1-17) Hurricane Harvey’s trek to the East caused many schools in its future path to change games from Friday night to Thursday in North Carolina.

For Head Coach Jared Rolfes and the Pirates it was one less day to prepare for the #1 team in North Carolina, Dudley. With under two minutes to go Page had a chance to pull the upset. The #1 team would make a key defensive stop and pick up the win 19-14.

On the play of the night (under two minutes to go in the game)-

fourth-and-7 at its 38-yard line,  Page quarterback Javondre Paige had time to throw, but couldn’t find an open receiver, Dudley defensive tackle Reggie Robertson and linebacker Jurriente Davis would make the tackle of Paige six yards short of a first down and preserve the Panthers win and #1 ranking.

After the game, Rolfes told greensboro.com:

“Our big things are we play physical, we play fast and we finish. We did the first two and we didn’t do the last. That’s how you lose by five points to a team that’s really good.”

Next week it doesn’t get any easier as Page will play at No. 2 Eastern Guilford.

For Rolfes it was his first loss as the Pirates new head man, Page is now 2-1 on the season.
