(1-29-18) Celina City Schools Superintendent Dr. Ken Schmiesing sent SSN this statement on the recent ineligibility issues facing the school system, including current Celina grad Seth Lonsway.
Earlier this week Ohio State Baseball Coach Greg Beals told the media, just before the Buckeye baseball team’s first practice this year, that Lonsway had been ruled ineligible by the NCAA for the upcoming season due to academic reasons from his high school.

- A College Coach’s Point Of View On NCAA Eligibility (Seth Lonsway)
The Celina City School District, and Celina High School, work with students and families on eligibility requirements. We continue to do so with meetings prior to each of the athletic seasons. We have communicated with OHSAA and the NCAA as this situation arose.
As a policy, we do not share individual student information in adherence to FERPA and HIPAA regulations.
Celina City Schools, the students, and the families all share responsibility in meeting and adhering to eligibility requirements.
