(3-3-18) Coach Rick Hartings Coldwater girls bowling team just missed winning back-to-back D II State Bowling Championships losing to Fairport Harbor Fairport Harding 3-1 in the Championship match. The Cavs (175, 195, 168, 181) were the #1 seed, they would take on #8 Hubbard (179, 136, 143, 167) in the first Championship Round and win 3-1. In the 2nd match they (180, 162, 39, 157, 218) would take on rival Versailles (141, 162, 33, 213) 3-1, including a roll-off round in the 2nd game. Versailles ended up in 4th place. Fairport Harbor Fairport Harding (147, 187, 190, 201) the #6 seed would pick up the State title 3-1 ending the Cavs (168, 155, 169, 166) hopes of the state title. St. Marys ended the day in 5th place after losing to the State Champs in the 1st match.

Coldwater picked up the #1 seed with a team score of 2,709 in regulation and 516 Baker score for a pin total of 3,225, St. Marys was 3rd at 3,143 and Versailles at 4th with 3,087 pins.

Bath’s Bryanna Twining picked up the State Individual title bowling a 684 series (216, 245, 223). The Cavs would have the 3rd and 4th bowlers Emily Fortner with a 617 series (192, 234, 191) and Lauren Wenning with a 601 series (172, 238, 191), all three earned 1st team All State Honors.

Other area bowlers picking up honors included Celina transfer Dorian Regandanz, who now bowls for St. Marys,  finished 10th with a 562 series (189, 187, 186).  She picks up 2nd team All State honors.
