Dean Martinetti

(3-9-18) Veteran Boys Basketball Head Coach Dean Martinetti has been been relieved of his duties as the head man at Rockford Guilford after five seasons by RPS 205. It was the second go around for Martinetti as the Vikings head man.

During his career he has an overall record of 262-222, in his last five seasons at Guilford he was 17-63 in NIC 10 play and 29-105 overall. This past season was the best season Martinetti had during the past five years going 11-15 overall and 6-10 in conference.

Martinetti took over a program that in 2012-13 was 1-15 in the NIC 10 and 3-22 overall. The Vikings last winning season was in 2006-07 when they went 23-7 and 12-4 in the NIC 10 and a second place finish behind Boylan. It just happened to be Martinetti’s last season on his first go around at Guilford.

In a news release when he was hired in 2013:

Guilford AD Augie Toldo

“Dean has the passion to teach our young student athletes and a track record of rebuilding programs to be successful and stay successful.”

Mat Parker, Rockford’s Director of Athletic Activities and Program Development

“He’s been very successful everywhere he’s been. He’s a great teacher of the game and developing the complete student athlete.”

No release has been sent out by Guilford or RPS 205 on Martinetti’s dismissal, the usual answer for the removal of a coach or an AD is that it is a ‘Personnel Matter’.
