(3-26-18) In a Kane County Chronicle story today, NIB 12 member Kaneland has been approached by the Interstate 8 after the quick and sudden departure of Geneseo to the Western Big 6.

Kaneland AD Peter Goff confirmed to the Kane County Chronicle today about the I8 offer:

“They [the I-8] have called me, and we talked. They are supposed to be sending information I would assume after the spring break. I think we have to wait and see what they send over to us. We’ll talk to them and go from there.”

According to Goff the NIC-10 has also reached out to Kaneland and DeKalb:

“Nothing is written in stone yet. We will always keep our options open. We are very appreciative of the [the leagues] that have called us. Everyone has to do what is best for their community and their school.”

The NIC 10 currently at 10 members, if they would expand, would need at least two teams to help with scheduling, six team divisions would also give the conference two automatic football playoff qualifiers. Kaneland would also be the longest trip for all of the conference members. According to the story the NIC 10 has also been in touch with DeKalb. The NIC 10 consists of nine public schools, including four RPS 205 members, Boylan is the only private school.

The best fit would have included Sycamore, but they have already committed to the I8.
