(5-23-18) Day 1 is complete at the OHSAA D III District Track and Field Meet .

In the boys meet Ft. Loramie leads with 21 points, followed by Waynesfield-Goshen with 16 points and Minster in 3rd with 14 points.

In the girls meet the first three teams are very close, Columbus Grove is in 1st with 11 points, while Covington and Minster both have 10 points.

Top four places advance to the State meet next week.

State qualifiers from the boys meet today include, three participants in the discus, Waynesfield-Goshen’s Brock Waitman who added the Regional title to his resume, Marion Local’s John Dirksen was 2nd and Minster’s Max Prenger was 3rd. In the long jump, Waynesfield-Goshen’s Gabriel James moves on with a 3rd place finish.

In the girls meet, Minster’s 4×800 meter relay team (Francis , Albers , Watcke , Magoto ) picks up a Regional title. In the field events advancing to state, include New Bremen’s Elli Roetgerman who picked up a 4th place finish in the high jump and New Knoxville’s Erin Scott finishes 3rd in the shot put to advance.

Prelims were also held tonight for the remainder of the events, with those finals taking place Friday night.
