(6-14-18) Woodlan has hired a new basketball coach, John Baker, to replace David Randall, who resigned last month.
Baker whose last head coaching position was at Bellmont from 2011-2017, he did not coach last season. While he was at Bellmont he had a 26-106 record.
Baker who currently teaches in the East Allen County School system (same as Woodlan) is a fourth grade teacher at the Prince Chapman Academy.

The Warriors who were 9-14 last season and lose their top three scorers will be a young team depending on the play of four returning sophomores.
Baker told the Ft. Wayne News-Sentinel about returning as a head coach:
“The last season I kind of took off and stepped away from the game and allowed me to reevaluate where I was. I knew I had that desire to get back involved. Being a high school basketball coach can be a grind. It can dominate certain aspects of your life. Having that time to get away and spending that time with my family just kind of re-energizes you. Jumping into this — thinking about the things that were successful and maybe weren’t successful at the last place and try to find reasons why — just that reflection is a big deal.”
Baker will have the opportunity to return to Adams County this season when Woodlan takes on ACAC rivals Adams Central and South Adams.
