Cenzie (Yoder) Rushton

(6-15-18) The new Celina Bulldogs’ girls basketball coach is no stranger to the program. At the June board of education meeting the board will look to confirm the hiring of Cenzie (Yoder) Rushton.

As a part of the June Board Agenda, you will see that we are seeking the Board’s approval in naming the new Head Girl’s Basketball Coach at Celina City Schools. Cenzie (Yoder) Rushton has accepted this position following our interview process. Cenzie currently holds among the Celina Lady Bulldog Records when she played for Celina from 2007-2010. We are excited that we are able to welcome Cenzie back home!

Cenzie shared her passion and energy for the sport of basketball during her interview process. She will be leaving her current position as Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach at Ohio Northern University. Mrs. Rushton believes that to be successful, you must have an open and honest relationship with your players.

Cenzie enters her second season as an assistant coach for the Ohio Northern women’s basketball program.

She returns to Northern after brief coaching stints at Heidelberg University and most recently the University of Findlay.

From 2015-2016, Yoder served as a Graduate Assistant Coach at Heidelberg where she earned her Master’s of Education.

In 2016-17, Yoder served as the Head Assistant and Recruiting Coordinator for the University of Findlay women’s basketball program.

A 2014 graduate of Ohio Northern, Yoder was a standout for the ONU women’s basketball program.

During her career at ONU, Yoder was a 3-time All-OAC honoree, including two First Team All-OAC honors, and was named D3Hoops.com Second Team All-America in 2012-13.

Yoder currently is Ohio Northern’s all-time leader in assists (318) and ranks second all-time in field goals made (489). She ranks fourth all-time at Ohio Northern with 1,223 points, is sixth all-time with 698 rebounds.

She also ranks seventh all-time at ONU in steals (149), eighth in made free throws (244) and ranks eighth all-time in FG percentage (.495) and ninth all-time with 53 blocked shots.

Yoder received her Bachelor’s Degree from Ohio Northern in English Education with a minor in Communications and currently serves as an admissions counselor at Ohio Northern.

Rushton replaces Brandon Steinke, who stepped down after one season of coaching at Celina.
