(9-26-18) On Monday DeKalb officials found out they were bypassed for membership in the Upstate 8, the conference decided to add Metro Suburban member Fenton.

The Barbs still have an opportunity to join a conference, this could be the last opportunity for them in the near future. The DVC has only five members, after the departure of several members to the DuKane Conference (Batavia, Geneva, Glenbard North, Lake Park, St. Charles East, St. Charles North, Wheaton North and Wheaton Warrenville South) this past school year.

In an email reply SSN  to a request about the DVC future, President of the DuPage Valley Conference and its spokesperson, Robert McBride, Principal, Neuqua Valley High School:

DeKalb High School has made a formal request to join the DuPage Valley Conference and partner with its five member schools. As a conference, we are interested in learning more about why DeKalb High School feels it would be a good fit for the DuPage Valley Conference. In early conversations with the leaders at DeKalb High School, we have learned that their administration, staff members, and community have a similar emphasis on academics, activities, and athletics as one would find in the DuPage Valley Conference. Also, DeKalb is searching to join a conference at a time when we are interested in adding like-minded schools to our conference. At present our focus is on DeKalb’s request to meet with us and share why they would be a good fit in the DuPage Valley Conference. We plan to meet with school leaders and tour DeKalb High School in person on Thursday, September 27.

This time both the DVC and DeKalb have a need to work again….it could be a fix for both schools.
