Hey, girls state poll voters. There’s a D3 school over in the OHC called West Liberty-Salem. They’ve won their last 15 games in a row and have knocked off 3 of our state-ranked teams over here in the SCAL and MAC. Looks like they might be pretty good?! https://t.co/ryMd1CgVGI

(1-30-19) West Liberty’s girls basketball team started out the season 0-3, with losses to Tippecanoe, Jonathon Alder and Miami East (all on the road).
Tigers’ Head Coach Dennis McIntosh told the Examiner after they upset Ft. Loramie about the start of the season:
“After those first three games we battled, but came up short. We were in every one of those games up until the fourth quarter. It’s just good to get a win and to have everyone healthy and playing now.”
Since that time the Tigers have reeled off 15 straight wins, including the win over #1 D IV Ft. Loramie, the only blemish on the Redskins record this season. They have knocked off state ranked Anna and last night they held on to beat Midwest Athletic Conference rival Versailles 41-39, who was ranked at #6 in D III this week. Very impressive.
The Tigers top 5 scorers includes two Seniors, two Sophomores and one Freshman. Senior Gabby Hollar (committed to play soccer at West Virginia University ) is the only Tiger scoring in double-figures at just a little over 10 points a game.
West Liberty-Salem has been overlooked in the D III AP State Basketball polls this season, granted the 0-3 start didn’t help…but 15 wins in a row should get them some future votes. When they do get those votes, they need to thank the Fish Report who made the case for the Tigers in their Tweet (see above).
Wins that count…
#6 – Versailles 13-3
#11 – Anna
#11 – Fort Loramie 17-1
