COLUMBUS, Ohio –(4-1-19) Redshirt freshman left-handed pitcher Seth Lonsway was named Big Ten Pitcher of the Week, the conference office announced Monday afternoon. Lonsway, from Celina, Ohio, earns his first career weekly award. This is the third time a Buckeye has been recognized by the Big Ten in 2019.

Lonsway was dominant on the mound in his B1G debut, throwing a complete game shutout with a season-high 12 strikeouts in a win at Rutgers last Saturday. Lonsway scattered three hits and struck out every hitter in the Scarlet Knights’ starting lineup. He became the first Buckeye to throw a complete game shutout since Ryan Riga threw a complete game shutout in 2015. He also was the first Buckeye pitcher to strike out at least 12 hitters in a game since Alex Wimmers (14, 2010). Lonsway is 4-2 with 51 strikeouts in 38.1 innings of work this spring.
