(7-11-19) One of Ohio’s top high school football recruits will play in the Big 10 in the future…he won’t be a Buckeye, but instead will be an Iowa Hawkeye. To add to that this tight end has deep Buckeye roots, who is it?

Luke Lachey (TE 6’7, 220) who will be a Senior ithis fall at Grandview Heights (Ohio) made his announcement to commit after a recent visit to Iowa City.

Luke Lachey told 247sports.com

“I created a special bond between some of the commits and players on campus. I also believe the coaching staff will push me as hard as possible to get where I want to go.”

During his Junior season last fall, Lachey caught 40 passes for 750 yards and 14 touchdowns. Lachey who is a three-sport star was considered by many to be a top basketball prospect.

Lachey’s dad Jim ( a St. Henry native) has strong Ohio State ties….he was an All-American offensive tackle at Ohio State before being selected in the first round of the 1985 NFL Draft where he played 10 seasons, was a three-time first-team All-Pro selection, win a Super Bowl and played in three Pro Bowls. Add to that he has been the color man on Ohio State football radio broadcasts for over twenty years.

Lachey had numerous offers, including Cincinnati, Wisconsin, Georgia Tech, Indiana, Iowa State, Kentucky, LSU, Minnesota, Rutgers and West Virginia. Some sources say Ohio State showed interest but to this point had not offered him.
