Two 10-0 Teams To Miss OHSAA HS Football Playoffs

(11-2-19) Two undefeated Ohio HS Football teams will miss the 2019 Playoffs, Gibsonburg in D VI Region 23 and Northwood in D V Region 18.

According to Ohio Fantastic 50 –

• Mathews Football: 11 man or 8 man, week by week basis

In the above TV 21 story –

Lutheran East, a Division V program and in a playoff position, and the (Mathews) Mustangs week nine opponent didn’t want to take any chances of not playing a normal game and has since found another opponent.

But instead local media reported that Lutheran East won by forfeit over Mathews 1-0, that changed the ruling and points from a forfeit to a no contest.The OHSAA did not release the change in points to the public. Lutherasn East did qualify for the playoffs in same region in 6th place and a 7-2 record.

Gibsonburg needed help last night, didn’t get it and they will also stay home for the playoffs.

Note that with the new playoff proposal of the OHSFCA to expand the number of teams competing….both would have qualified.
