(2-15-20) Heading into the final race of the day at the Northwest District Swim Championships Celina was just one point ahead of 2nd place Ontario and two points a head of 3rd place Wauseon.
The Bulldogs would do what they had to do and win the 400 freestyle relay and clinch the District title, edging out Wauseon 196-188. The cherry on top, they automatically qualify for the State Championships.
The Bulldogs on the day picked up four District titles in total.
Picking up another bid and championship was Celina’s 200 Medley relay team, with a time of 1:48.44, almost 3 seconds faster then Ontario.
The Bulldogs Kenzie Conn finished 3rd in the 100 freestyle, Emma Guggebiller finished 6th. Kenzie Conn picked up a District title in the 100 backstroke, Emma Guggebiller finished 5th. Claire Gass won the 100 breaststroke and a 7th place finish in the 100 butterfly.
The OHSAA D II state swim meet begins next Thursday in Canton at 5 p.m. with the prelims in each event. The finals and consolation finals will be contested on Friday starting at 5 p.m.
New Bremen finished 9th on the day with 124 points, Coldwater was 15th with 74 points, Ft. Recovery was 18th with 32 points and Marion Local was 22nd with 18 points.
