The Bucks led 1-0 early thanks to a 2nd inning Hailee Kara home run, her ninth of the season, down the right field line that hit the foul pole.

That lead would last until the top of the 6th when Richmond scored their 2 runs…enough for the 2-1 win and a state title.

Piper Clark went 3 for 3 on the day for the Blue Devils and scored a run.

Shea VanScoter held Buchanan to just 3 hits, including Kara’s HR, she struck out 9 and did not walk anyone in the complete game win. Buchanan’s Sophia Lozmack took the loss giving up 8 hits and struck out 8.

VanScoter told MLive. com after the game

This means the world to me … everything,” VanScoter said. “I remember in the seventh grade, wrapping my fingers around the fence, looking through the holes and watching my friends win a state title. At that time, I knew what I wanted to do, where I wanted to be.
