(7-22-21) D IV Region 14 in 2019 was very competitive for the 8 football playoff spots, last year with computer rankings not being used, Van Wert won the D IV State title. This year, even with 16 teams qualifying, it should be a battle for those spots.

Region 14 has only 25 schools, down from 27 in 2019, meaning just nine will not make the playoff cut this year.

The Western Buckeye League has two of its most successful teams in recent years in Region 14, Kenton and Van Wert. League rival Ottawa-Glandorf, joins Bath and moves down to D V and Region 18 in 2021.

The Region goes from near the Indiana Stateline to the edge of Cleveland.

Region 14 is a good example if you support the doubling the regions to 16 teams. 15 of the top 16 had winning records, #16 Bryan was 5-5. #17 Huron was 17-3 and #19 Fostoria was 6-4 and neither would make the cut this year. Pretty impressive group!

2021 D IV Schools – Complete List

Region Process:
The regions were redrawn based on the number of teams that requested to enter the 2021
OHSAA Football Tournament. Once we have the number of teams, we look at the “pins”
representing each school in that division all over the state (see map below). We don’t keep
counties together because the “clusters” of schools makes that impossible. As you can see from
the map, schools can be pretty spread out.
