(9-3-21) Niles is off to a fast start in the 2021 season, HOF Coach Scot Shaw and the Vikings are 2-0 after beating county rival Buchanan 26-0 last night.

Niles scored first thanks to a 46 opening KO return by Freshman Sam Rucker that would end in a 17-yard TD run by Julian Means-Fluellen. 2pt PAT was no good…with 10:30 to go in the first.

The next Viking score came after Rucker stripped the ball from Buchanan QB Connor Legaultin mid-throw and would return the loose ball 26 yards for a TD just before halftime. A Talon Brawley pass to Julian Means-Fluellen would add 2 more Niles points and a 14-0 lead.

Rucker, after teammate Nick Berry deflected a pass, returns it 85 yards for a TD, his second defensive TD of the game.

A shut-out and two defensive TDs the Vikings continue roll. The Vikings only converted on 1 of 4 two-point PATS.

Niles lead series 24-6-3, in 2020 Buchanan picked up a 19-0 win in Niles.

Niles at home next Friday night at 7 vs. Edwardsburg in a Wolverine Conference game. Buchanan on the road in a non-conference matchup at Watervliet next Friday night at 7.
