(10-6-21) Last night Iowa City West High School retired the #9 uniform of Caroline Found. It has been 10 years since she passed away in a moped accident during the beginning of her Senior season.
In 2011 after her death West Head Coach Kathy Bresnahan and the team went on to win the state championship in honor of Caroline, that led to the movie ‘The Miracle Season’.
Last night Bresnahan and Caroline’s dad Ernie both addressed the fans during the ceremony.
While Iowa City West honors Line, her story, Coach Bresnahan’s book and the movie “The Miracle Season’ have inspired many girls across the country. Overcoming grief in a such a time happens to many of us…this true story gives us hope for the future…even 10 years later.
To add to night the Trojans went on to knock off Dubuque Senior 25-18, 14-25, 25-14, 25-23…a fitting tribute by the current West team.
