(12-4-21) The Midwest Athletic Conference (MAC) sent three teams to this week’s State Football finals in Canton. Earlier in the day, MAC member, Marion Local picked up the D VII title with a 42-7 win over Newark Catholic. Coldwater…was not so lucky losing to Carey 26-14 in the D VI game. Later tonight the last MAC member,Versailles, will try and knock off Kirtland in the D V title game.

It took 46 years for Carey to win their 2nd State title, the last was back in 1975.

The Blue Devils seem to own both sides of the line of scrimmage. Carey used the ground game on offense and had 8 ball carriers who rushed 64 times for 234 yards. The Blue Devils held Coldwater to just 39 yards rushing on defense. Coldwater had just 49 offensive plays, Carey’s time of possession was 34:34, the Cavs had the ball on offense for just 13:26.

Coldwater scored first and would hold a 7-0 lead once during the game…for a short time in the 1st quarter.

Two turnovers hurt the Cavs, while Carey had no miscues.
